As our church embarks
upon the 21st century and the new millennium, I am very optimistic
concerning the role the COGIC woman will play in its future. I envision
an institution where both male and female are working together in
unity for a common goal and kingdom building.
Today's leaders
must have a vision that is in accord with the needs of the church.
My vision is to work closely with the women in our local churches,
addressing their sincere concerns, involving them in planning district
workshops, thereby strengthening their involvement in our jurisdiction.
Teaching tem the importance of knowing how to constructively contribute
to the posterity of this grand old church is certainly one of my
goals.
My utmost concern
is to motivate women to apply the scripture to their daily lives.
It's enough not enough just to know that the Bible says, "Love
one another", "whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord" and "pray without
ceasing", but we must be doers also.
Many of our COGIC
women today are first generation. They are not aware of our rich
heritage and seem to believer that all tradition is negative. Some
strides must be made to teach them the historical significance of
holding on to our rich heritage and expanding some of its principles
and ideals rather than to destroy all connections to the past.
Attitude is another
concern I have. Negative attitudes toward leadership and its and
its consequences must be addressed and reckoned with. This can be
explored through workshops at all levels in the jurisdiction. I
see a strong need to get our nation leaders into our jurisdiction
as often as possible to reinforce many of the things we are teaching.
Someone once said, "Knowledge is Power!" The Bible says, "My people
perish for lack of knowledge". To secure this knowledge,
we must have educational programs conducive to enriching and instructing,
if we expect our people and church to move forward into the new
millennium.
I am will to work
diligently and wholeheartedly as a servant of God for the betterment
of the Church of God in Christ. My commitment is with a pure and
consecrated heart.
